A wine tasting workshop with Ms. Allison Zinder, the "Wine Lab" on "a selection of French white wines (dry and sweet)" was conducted for CMH students in November 2015.
Held in French and English, the workshop was mainly focused on four types of white wines.
Ms. Zinder presented a Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley, a Chardonnay du Beaujolais and Côtes du Rhône that is composed of several grape varieties of the region (Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle).
She explained the term of "mineral" in white wines and some food and wine pairings. The tasting concluded with a soft and sweet wine of Bordelais: the Monbazillac. She explained how botrytis cinerea or the noble rot gives the sweetness of the wine.
Most students have much preferred Sauvignon Blanc, and some were attracted by the sweet wine such as Monbazillac.
