Let’s have dinner in a tree pod!

Soneva Kiri, a luxury eco-resort located in the tropical rainforest of Koh Kood, an almost deserted island in Thailand, offers villas and several private residences, but also a new way of having dinner.
It’s indeed possible to have an exclusive eating experience in a 4 meters suspended tree dining pod!

Moreover, the service is quite different from other restaurants. Waiters deliver meals to the top of the tree thanks to a zip wire! It’s fascinating, isn’t it?

Finally, as an eco restaurant, all the ingredients used are taken from the resort’s eco garden.

Jet Setters’ new place-to-be!

Located in San José Ignacio near Punta del Este in Uruguay, Playa Vik is a luxury hotel facing the sea.

It opened in 2010 and is now very popular to jet setters. It’s a peaceful and modern place where you can come and relax.
The hotel looks a little bit like an art gallery but its major asset is the pool made of Uruguayan black absolute nero granite stretching out beyond the limit of the terrace and cantilevering 10 meters over the beach garden below.

Playa Vik Hotel also contains a Spa, a gym room, a library, a fireplace, a playroom and a wine cellar.
The hotel’s owner is a Norwegian billionaire named Alexander Vik. He chose Carlos Ott, one of the architects of the Opera Bastille, to design the hotel.
Other designers and artists were hired, such as Anselm Kiefer, James Turrell, Pablo Atchugarry and Zaha Hadid.

A brand new spa for the Five Hotel and Spa!

The Five Hotel and Spa in Cannes will open a new spa in April 2012 in association with Jean-Louis Poiroux, the founder of “Cinq Mondes”, the French Spas’ leader.

In a captivating and relaxed atmosphere with special music and lights, the spa will cover 250 square meters and will be decorated in a very exotic style.

There will be two saunas, four treatment rooms, a steam room, a relaxation room and also a fully-equipped gym room.

This will be the ideal place to relax before the upcoming “Festival de Cannes”.

Submarines: the new toy of billionaires!

Buying a personal submarine is getting more and more popular for the wealthy. “There’s been an increase in the interest of submarines” according to Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate, an underwater expeditions company.

They want to have a trip in the deepest waters to see coral reefs, to admire dolphins and whales and even to explore wrecks

Billionaires don’t want to go through an underwater tourism company so they buy their own private submarines. They already own mega yachts and private jets so they’re interested in something new and different.

Depending on the type of submarines, they can go exploring the ocean with two or three people.

Bruce Jones, CEO of Triton Submarines, says: “Our customers are large yacht owners who want to offer their friends and their family something special. They can show them things they have never seen before”.

Hôtel de Crillon’s recycled bags!

After more than a year of renovation, the Hôtel de Crillon decided to recycle the canvas used to cover the front of the luxurious hotel.

Indeed, the hotel located in Paris covered its historic façade with a huge trompe-l’oeil of 1300 m² during the renovation period. At the end of the work, as the canvas was no longer needed, the hotel decided to re-use the material instead of throwing it away. With the help of the brand Bilum, an exclusive and unique purse and accessories line has been created.

The line will be launched during the Sustainable Development Week. The average price for a bag is 65 euros and for each piece sold, a portion of the receipts will be donated to the association of the ‘Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle’. The 450 pieces will be available at the hotel shop.
